As many, many others in civil society and other non-governmental actors, we have engaged strongly in the post-2015 process and in the definition of Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have shared experiences, expertises, intelligence, frustrations and hopes during this long journey of negotiations and we celebrated the adoption of Agenda 2030 during the Summit in September 2015.
We believe that with the great opportunity generated by Agenda 2030 also comes a great responsibility – not only for our governments – but also for civil society. This is an Agenda “of the people, by the people and for the people” and the realization of its promises will demand a long-term, innovative and multi-sectoral approach.
We are a very diverse group of organizations and people, with different backgrounds and experience that share the same passion for joint action and believe on our capacity of changing realities when we come together.
Together 2030 is an initiative that will be developed with its members, action-oriented, focused on the implementation and accountability of Agenda 2030. We expect to promote and engage in partnerships in different areas and with different actors that share similar principles and focus.
The journey to the next 15 years must start now and will demand all of our energy and ingenuity. We understand that the ambition and breadth of Agenda 2030 and the SDGs may generate space for a broad “ecosystem” of initiatives, platforms and partnerships and this diversity must be promoted and embraced.
We are certain that with the strong leadership and participation of colleagues all over the world, Together 2030 will be able to contribute fully to the realization of the SDGs and will be a space where civil society actors come to share, learn and, most important, to jointly act.
We welcome you and hope to see you with us!
